Review: Bighands&Barefoot – Spirits

Dirty blues for a late-night drive

Bighands&Barefoot are a distortion heavy blues rock duo. The music is dirty, stripped down swamp rock and will certainly appeal to fans of The John Spencer Blues Explosion or Bob Log III. The grooves and guitar hooks are catchy and the beats are great to stamp along to. The vocals are very gritty and fuzz drenched too and ZZ Top and RL Burnside fans will find plenty to enjoy here.

It is the kind of music that would also make an excellent soundtrack to a road trip or a late night drive. The song titles “Flames And Wine”, “Blood Brother” and “The Black Snake” evoke an almost gothic mood. A diverse selection of blues and punk music is a clear influence on this release too, fans of everything from Led Zeppelin to The Gun Club may find this worth a listen. You can certainly imagine that this band would be great fun live too.
