Alcol Fest Hardcore Test 2 @Parabae, Italy | April 27th, 2019

It starts early and ends badly! Last Saetta fest at Parabae!

After a very interesting evening on a psycho-physical-alcoholic level, we don’t even have time to realize where we are, who we are, why, that we already have to leave for Maserada Sul Piave, for the last concert at Impianti Sportivi Parabae. And here we stop to spend a few words. We have spent a lot of time in this beautiful place, we have always been very well received and there is no evening that we do not remember with great pleasure. We do not dwell on why the Parabae guys are forced to leave the place, but we want to wish the best to them and to all the realities that like Saetta Autoproduzioni have created so much aggregation in this place. If on the one hand we are sad, on the other hand we can only see how Saetta is in great shape and that there is no time to cry, there is a last fest to be honoured!
They start early, rather on time if we calculate the standard to which we are accustomed in this area, and after placing the distro we go under the marquee. The first to start are L’Ordegno from Trieste. The band offers an old-school hardcore with metal and melodic hardcore influences. Very good musicians and smart lyrics. Not their best live show, but it’s always worth seeing them in action!
After a while, Le Bambine Barbute di Donna Concetta start on the second stage set up inside. The acoustics are not great, given the small number of people and everything reverberates. However, the band from Treviso does its best and thanks to a super fit drummer, their live show runs smoothly and their songs sound direct and without frills.
Then it’s time for Minoranza di Uno, who not only share two of the members with L’Ordegno, but also share the same stage today. Outside the acoustics are great and for the first time we hear the new tracks from the new album that will soon be released. We’re very excited about it and we’re already looking forward to listening to it and learning the lyrics by heart. Obviously there are also the old “hits” of the band from Friuli that as usual gets us. PS: Beppe was more lively than ever!
We go back inside and LaTebra start. The punx in front make a mess and the band from Trentino is wild. Their punk heavily influenced by metal is a blast and they were incredible, thanks to an audience that finally begins to move.
In the meantime, at the stand, the usual punx “living room” begins to form, which is good and fair. But we immediately run towards the outside stage, where there is La Pazzia. The local band churns out powerful riffs combined with hardcore rhythms and an angry scream. You can see why they are so appreciated in the area!
When darkness falls, I Goti from Vicenza also begin. They appear dressed as priests, with the singer in jacket and tie who is almost identical to No Fun At All’s singer. They fire their hardcore punk that winks at punk rock. Great discovery, perhaps the revelation of the evening being a group that we had absolutely never heard before. While writing we are listening to “Grande Goto” on Bandcamp!
Then, after discovering that there is a fest called Smarsofest, we go and listen to Vivere Merda. As always Alessia – fresh from the nomination in Scenebrity DeathMatch by Hardcorella Duemila– and co. are in great shape. Among anti-sexist songs, incitements to free wine and beer for punx and insults to fascists, the set flows smoothly leaving us fully satisfied.
After a pleasant chat with Martina, Jacopo and Federica from Bologna punx, we run to hear Zëne, with the voice of that mythological creature half tank top and half man who answers to the nickname of Beja. Fast, lively, dynamic, Zëne are one of those bands that can resurrect the dead. To describe what they do we could tell you that it is as if Discharge played Motorhead or vice versa, but it would not be enough, because in addition to being unique live, they still have their own style, and what a style!
Finally we see some new faces, here we go! It’s the turn of the legendary Pasmaters, very much awaited by us and I think by many of the punks who came. The anti-fascist band from Pula, Croatia, has that healthy wickedness that only the punks from their area have. Their hardcore punk is furious, they are surgical to say the least and they drag the crowd into a very participated mosh. They don’t disappoint at all our expectations and, on the contrary, they turn out to be like wine, the older it gets, the better!
After the necessary drink break, we go inside and make our way through the crowd. On stage there are Arrotzak, a Basque band from San Sebastian that has almost reached the end of its European tour. The band plays a punk very influenced by post-punk and I’m amazed by the power they can create despite being only 3. Choirs, overlapping voices, hypnotic riffs full of effects and ringing and strong impact bass and drums. Magnificent!
At the end of the concerts we say hello to Arih from Arrotzak (we met him three months ago in Udine during Radio Punk presentation and after the well-deserved congratulations we come back under the tent to hear Kontatto. Under the stage there’s a tornado to all the songs, so that the greatest fan of coffee liquor, or Mario (Kontatto singer), waited for his shot, but alas the aforementioned glass of diy Borghetti will never reach his burned throat, is it true, Martina? Joking aside, Kontatto are impressive. Technically, they’re amazingly precise and hold the stage with great experience. Highlights on “Fino Alla Fine” and “Picci”. Kontatto are a sure blast!
We start feeling tired from the previous evening, but we do not lose heart and listen to Zona D’Ombra, a band from Como that we got to know thanks to our friends Minoranza who gave us a CD. Live they remind us a lot of Reset Clan, old school, tupa tupa and supersonic speed. Beautiful riffs, melodic the right amount and fair anger on stage. Great band, highly recommended to fans of 80’s Italian hardcore who want to hear something fresh!
Then it’s the turn of the band that has been announced to us as hallucinating. Frankly, one of the craziest bands we’ve seen. Let’s talk about Underball from Rome. On stage they are amazing and in addition to their delicious “squirthrash” metal/hardcore it is worth noticing their stage presence: in underwear, with glitter or star-covered suits, fake furs, tight leggings, disconnected announcements and speeches and a lot of irony. We had a great time, you have no idea of what we saw. Underball are an experience, not a band! Go and see them and then tell us!
At the end of the concerts we dance to mainly 80’s dance music. There will be time for high school numbers, ballets, stage diving and incredible scenes!
It all ends at 6 am, after which a sort of improvised party in the parking lot will start that will be interrupted more by fatigue than by the rain. Here too, rather funny scenes!
Well punx, thanks as always for stopping by to have a chat, thanks to the bands, thanks to Riki and Parabae, thanks to that beautiful collective that is Saetta, thanks to  Bugno, Deni, Bolo Punx, Mongy, Cassie,Martina, Federica, Jacopo, Fier, Cecilia, Silvia “Mesa”, Cica, Cosmin, Marci, Enrico, Ezio e Giulia, Nicola, Silvia and his fantastic distro and if we’re forgetting someone it’s only because we are KO. See you next time, we hope we acted as your memory this time too, also because this time more than ever, it was necessary!
