BREAK OF DAY – Before Life Decides You’ve Had Enough – Review

“Before Life Decides You’ve Had Enough” is the new album by the melodic hardcore band Break of Day, released in early June, 2016 for Thanks but no Thanks Records. These Belgian guys, after playing on national stages for a long time, crossing the borders to the Netherlands and France, producing their debut Ep “Where Ends Meet Life Begins” and their full lenght albums “The Hangman’s Fracture”, “Illusion burn” and “Counterclockwise”, are back with this great quality work.

“Before Life Decides You’ve Had Enough” is a good mix of rage and aggressiveness exploding in excellent voice lines which are built on wild rhythmics, varying from strictly hardcore tracks to more melodic ones, spread consistently along an 11-track list. The first tracks flow by easily, from the killer solo in “Abattoir” and the very hard ”Notion of life”, down to the almost onyric athmospheres created by the instrumental “Berefts Of Illusions”, opening “Children Of the Sun”, the last track. Something remarkable is the bass intro in “Zombie Clerks”, one of the best tracks in the album.

“Before Life Decides You’ve Had Enough”is a record from the deep old continent, but tastes a lot like the USA (Strung Out and Rise Against). That’s why it doesn’t disappoint, it pleases indeed, melodic hardcore fans, who can play it safe with this band.
