On August 6th, 2016, the Brotherhood Hardcore Fest will take place at the Sballos Music Club in Senise (PZ), and for this occasion we interviewed the organizing crew. Here they are, the guys from Brotherhood Hardcore Youth Crew.

R: Radio Punk
B: Brotherhood Hardcore Youth Crew

-R: Hi, guys! First of all, thank you for accepting the interview. Would you like to introduce yourselves?
-B: Hi, and thank you! We are the Brotherhood Hardcore Youth Crew from Basilicata, keepers of the zafarano!

-R: I noticed in the name of your crew the word “brotherhood”: why did you choose this word?
-B: We aren’t many, just a dozen of people, so it isn’t easy to organize this kind of events; however, a strong feeling ties us together, we love each other, we know each other and we can collaborate without too much trouble. This feeling is important also because we don’t live in the same place, so it’s very important to stay together to build something.

-R: The crew was born in 2015 and your fest is at its first edition, would you like to talk about your past and future projects?
-B: The crew was born officially in 2015, but we’ve been in activity since late 2013. We’re happy to have helped play many bands such as Face Your Enemy (ITA) and Forsaken (RCH), but we have organized some 15 concerts so far, which are more than a few (or easy) for an 8,000 people town. Our goal is to demonstrate to those who don’t believe in us that hardcore is born from the bottom and must be supported from the bottom, we do it with great humility, learning from our mistakes and from the advice of those who love us. I’d like to mention our brothers from CBC and Samall from VEHC, big hugs! In the future we would like to have a steady place but we don’t want to say any more about it for the moment.

-R: How did you choose the bands? Is there any other band you would like to have in the future?
-B: 17 bands are going to play. We thought of the best bands in Italy, then we thought of what people wanted to listen to, the bands we liked and how much we were willing to risk. The result was an amazing lineup. Yes, there are some bands we would like to have, but we want to see this year’s results first.

-R: What is hardcore for you and how important is the “Do It Yourself”philosophy?
-B: Hardcore is everything for us, and we try to live it 360 degree every day. It’s a philosophy of life, you see things in a different way. The DIY is very important, it helps you understand many dynamics in and out of the show business and appreciate other people’s work.

-R: What is supporting the scene like in your area, and what are the differences from the rest of Italy? Which model(s) inspired you?
-B: Supporting the “scene” in our area is very difficult, due to lack of suitable places and people, but we like it and we do it. These are the differences, places and numbers, it is impossible to compare the scene in Basilicata to the scene in Campania or Lazio or Veneto and so on. Our model was the closest to us, Caserta Beatdown Commando (that’s amore!), but also the experience of those who were in Basilicata before us helped us.

-R: Would you like to leave a message to our readers?
-B: Doing hardcore, punk, metal and anything underground isn’t easy in in Italy, especially in the South, that’s why we invite you to stay together and support us! We hope you’re interested in our fest, we put our heart and soul in it, so if you’re nearby (or not) get your ass up and come have fun!
Million thanks, Radio Punk!
