Resurrection Fest V. 1 @ Turbigo (MI), 20th April 2019

The dead are getting ready for the Resurrection with a punk rock night

After 4 devastating hours at the tattoo shop, Paolo, Sara and I got into the car towards Turbigo, specifically towards the music pub “La Cabotina” where a punk rock night with Northern Italy bands like Koseakaso, Secoli Morti, Discomostro and Disordine was waiting for us.
Like good hobos, we decided to take the road without toll, I wish we’d never got it! The trip seemed infinite and as always we had before us assholes who drove slower than a sloth. After a few streets that we took wrongly, we finally saw the town sign of Turbigo. The closer we got to the pub, the more the street became narrow and tumultuous. We passed also over a little bridge with Ticino a few inches under our asses. Where the fuck were we going?
Finally at the corner of the rough street we saw La Cabotina. The messy trip was offset by the beautiful location where the pub is located: in the middle of Parco Ticino, with the river that runs on the side.
We got in and we recognized immediately the guys from the bands that were going to play. Pending the start of the concert we ordered food and the staff was immediately very kind and they made us feel like home. We waited for the dinner at the table outside, with an awesome sunset behind our shoulders that with a bit of imagination could take you to the beaches of Venice Beach. That was quite a show.
We finished our sandwiches and chips, we got back inside and we went under the stage as usually. Koseakaso started to play, they are a band from Vercelli active since 2011. They play melodic punk that reminds me of bands like blink-182 in the old days. They started with “Casi”, a song from their 2014 ep “Grande Giove!!!” . Their setlist was  very varied: they played tracks from their first demo “Scusa, ma ho le mie kose dated 2012, up to the new album “Squaloparco” of last year. Even though there were few people, the guys didn’t lose their smile and they ended their exhibition with the song “Il problema”.
After a few minutes Secoli Morti came up, they are the band formed by little Edo, his father Mattia (Skruigners) and Walter (Menagramo). Finally the pit crowded. The guys, unfortunately due to time issue, were forced to play the setlist without a break. They played almost their entire album, starting with “Lupi Mannari”, through “Mostro” sung by little Edo and finishing with my favorite song “Un passo verso la vita”. After thanking La Cabotina for having them as guests after their first show of last May right there, Mattia announced that in less than an hour Walter would turn 30. That’s how we said goodbye to the guys, chanting “happy birthday dumb face”. Always very good, I can’t wait for a new album. By the way, the band on May 5th will be at the HT Factory in Seregno for making the videoclip of “Cielo che brucia”, come along guys!
Right after Secoli Morti, it was time for LineOut and while they were setting up the equipment, we went to the merch table to buy something.
We came back under the stage and they started to play. They began with the energetic “Marcallo is shit”, the pub is completely full but the people seemed dead, were you waiting for the Resurrection guys? We were at a fucking punk rock show, not in church. Move your asses! Ironies aside, in my opinion the band was amazing, they do melodic hc punk that gets into your head and makes you wanna pack and go to California. In the setlist a couple of tracks were inserted that will be in their new ep “Pugno dall’inferno”, to be released on May 1st.
The ep composed of 4 songs is entirely live-recorded and it will be released via their new independent label. I can’t wait for its release! They finished the show with “Bastard”, a song that they dedicated to all the guys who have the passion for the music.
It was time to give way to Discomostro, loose cannons to say the least. It took Carlame and company to light up the spirit of the night. “CIAO IO SONO CARLO E NON HO VINTO MAI NIENTE” and it was immediately delirium. The crowd has finally risen and started to mosh, better late than never! Between a song and another the good old Carlame repeated “minchia che sete!” inciting the people to bring him a beer. Between screams outside the windows of the pub, crawling through the people and ropes made with the microphone cord, in my opinion Discomostro did the best exhibition of the night. I don’t know if it’s him or the beer but for me Carlame is one of the best frontmen currently in circulation. He looks like Darby Crash‘s reincarnation.
Disordine played lastly, they are a band from Bergamo active since 2004 and they play concise and direct old school punk rock. Unfortunately few people stayed, in fact the band thanked immediately who was still there for their show. The setlist is composed mainly by the tracks of their last album “Pianosequenza” of 2018; we talked about it here.
The night ended, we thank La Cabotina, Professional Punkers, the bands and all the guys who made Resurrection Fest possible.
