Review: C4 – Disterru e Catenas

Find out the new album by C4 from Sardinia

The Sardinian combat rock band C4 are from Silì – not Oristano! – who in this weird April weather, gift us with a new album titled “Disterru e Catenas”: 13 tracks, in CD format, co-produced with SmashSound Collective, Tifiamo Rivolta, Kattive Maniere, Fast ‘n’ Loud and Rumagna Sgroza. A few saturdays ago I listened to them at the radio broadcast “If The Kids Are United” and after listening to the single “Fame” I immediately wanted to know more. Almost at the same time Roberto, the drummer, contacted us, asking to write a review, it’s telepathy!
After that, coincidences continued, in fact as cunning as I am, I noticed after several months that they would play at the Smashsound fest, meaning I would even see them live. Absurd, but cool. They smash live, as it was written in the Florence report, but now let’s talk about this “Disterru e Catenas”.
Is Picius – meaning ‘the boys’ in Sardinian – made an Academy-like performance, proposing a melodic street punk both well balanced and powerful and direct. A perfect composition, simple and catchy riffs, entwined perfectly with bass lines and a drum which beats properly.
Their lyrics deserve to be applauded – most of them in Italian, except for a few verses here or there and “Disterru e Catenas” completely in Sardinian – and they assume the shape of rocks perfectly hurled by a strong voice, determined and charismatic. The album is compact and every song has its reasons, every track makes you want to raise UP your closed fist singing out loud.
But “Ragazzi di Strada Bianca”, “Vetrine Vetrate”, “Fame” and “Disterru e Catenas” are the cherries on top of a great album. I have little to say, “Disterru e Catenas” is wonderful, I’ve listened to it for 10 times in a day and for 20 the day after. Thanks for this gem, C4!
