Review: Double Me – Destroyed In A Second

Today we speak about a powerviolence quartet from Padua: ladies and gentlemen, here’s Double Me

A blast-beats shower, and wickedness which reaches an out-of-scale magnitude: that’s how you feel when you listen to Double Me for the first time. 17 tracks in this album, Destroyed in a Second, none of which lasts more than a minute. Sounds like pure grindcore then, even if our four heroes do not disdain some ultra core raids. You can catch Larm and Dropdead echoes here and there thanks to the perfectly nailed choice of using both growling and screaming for vocals.

The instrumental structure is absolutely sturdy: bass and drums really work perfectly together and the drums itself brings very well-defined grooves and time variations out; the guitar sounds like a lightning bolt, it really gives the impression it’s about to steal the last breath from you.

The mixing result is absolutely great. It is possible to distinguish every instrument and voices as well (which is not a small thing), and that’s how this record, despite its fierce ferocity, manages to sound fresh and sliding from the beginning to the end. An end which comes so fast, as mentioned above, but that’s just the perfect excuse to start it over again.
