Review: Hardship Anchors / Death Lottery

Read the review and listen to this split album made in USA!

This 7” split is a full immersion in the US punk rock scene: Easy, direct, fast, biting and catchy. Nothing is missing here!
The first 3 tracks are performed with style by Death Lottery, whose “EP II” we had already the pleasure to review. This band drives me numb with their old school dirty garage punk that I love so much.
The second part of the split by Hardship Anchor is more on the pop side of things with its more sophisticated tones and attention to details: it sounds a bit cloying but definitely catchy.
The result of this split is definitely remarkable, particularly because it seems to tie the old punk rock from the ‘70s by Death Lottery to the more modern one by Hardship Anchors. This album tells a lot about the evolution of a genre that keeps evolving after 50 years, renewing itself and melting different cultures and influences.
