Iron Hill / Lenders split

Review: Iron Hill / Lenders – Split

What’s going on between Iron Hill and Lenders? A Split!

As far as I am concerned, color vinyls are real fancy. The reason why I am mentioning this is quite easy: the split record today’s review is about it is red. Who am I talking about, you ask? Here it is! This split album is a 7” released in 2017 that includes two songs each by Iron Hill from Colleferro (with Plakkaggio members) and the Lenders from Rome.

Side A, by Iron Hill, is a blast! Street punk at its best with English lyrics and high quality riffs. A tuneful but solid sound make the two tracks, “Where are we now” and “District Boy”, a real bomb! Street punk is not an easy genre to play, since the risk to play the same trite melody is always around the corner, but Iron Hill showed great capability to develop really good ideas. I have no clue what’s going on with this band, since I don’t have that many news about them and this seems to be their only release, but I really hope to hear from them soon.

Side B, by Lenders, is marked by classic Oi! more on the old school side. The songs “Quanto noi” and “Strade Rosse” combine resolution and simplicity, and even though they lack of inventiveness, they appear to be intense and powerful. This band songs are singable and aggressive at the same time and I really hope to manage to listen to them live soon – also considering that Lenderss album “Da che parte stai?” is incredibly good too -.

What else? This is a remarkable split involving two bands that are at the same time similar but different and that has been out for a while now, what keeps you from going to listen to it?!
