Review: Orrendo Subotnik – Orrendo_1

Orrendo_1, the first endeavour of Orrendo Subotnik

From Klam’s ruins, Orrendo Subotnik are reborn, a duo composed by Luca Musetti as drummer and Tommaso Salvini as guitarist and singer.
On the 9th of September “Orrendo_1” came to life, a fast and rough album, which throws on you an almost existential discomfort with brief and concise lyrics. Starting from “Lega“, passing through “Cane”,  arriving to “Francesca”, Tommaso sings, groans about life, about people and with people, about love and  his feeling of ineptitude towards the world, which surely does not appease him.
Luca accompanies the distorted guitar of the singer making violently resound the drums’ cymbals. It is clear that the duo from Pisa plays for the sake of playing and complaining, as it should be. They talk about feelings that touch everybody, always polemic and never satisfied. In the album, there is also space for a Peggio Punx ’s cover, “Scemo”, and it closes with “Mannaia”. The album has been highly inspired by the sounds of bands who marked the punk-rock history as Black Flag, Misfits and Circle Jerks.
A totally DIY product, played and recorded to smash the ears and mosh under the stage.
