Split album Hobos/Border Bastard – Review

Time has come to face something new. This split features some old friends of ours: a Venice-based act called Hobos and Border Bastard from Sistiana (Trieste), which we happen to write about for the first time. This album consists of four beautiful, violent tracks – “Amanita” and Digger” (Border Bastard) and “Nel Nome Del Male” (In The Name Of Evil) and “La Scena” (The Scene) (The Hobos). It is very compact, particularly because both bands sound very similar, their styles being quite different. In fact, what both bands have to offer is a pick of powerful, energetic, all-hell-breaking-loose type of songs, featuring majestic riffs that literally seethe with hatred and anger. Hammering like anvils, the drums fuel the atmosphere of slight panic and the bass is another element of the music background. And not just that, the overall sounding is not pure hardcore – death metal as well as rock’n’roll influences can be heard. Shortly speaking, this album is definitely decent and it’s hard to say which of these two bands have impressed me more. If destruction had a sound, that’s what it would be! This album is a must-have!
