The Oxide – Just The Same… – Review

“The Oxide” is a real surprise with their EP “Just The Same…”, in fact the album starts with fireworks since the very first track: “The Warm Cage” is a powerful track with mesmerizing riffs and drums sounding like machine guns which suggests to my ears that I need to keep an eye on their next live tour dates. In fact a new band that is capable of breaking through my eardrums with their charged-up machine gun like punk, really fits perfectly in this period of my life. The first thing I notice is the voice tone, it is a powerful crude punk vocal style that would remind me of my favorite bands like Rancid and the U.K. Subs. The confirmation arrives on the fifth track of the EP with the song “Riot” that is effectively a cover of the U.K. Subs. Let’s bow in front of a band that in 2015 pays a tribute to a historic punk band founded in London in 1976. There is really no argument about this, the Italian punk scene is alive and “The Oxide” are here to testify it. The tracks that I certainly liked more are “The Warm Cage” and “Get Ready”, mainly for their charged-up bomb and “Kill You All”, besides the charged-up bomb also because of the vocal evolution and rhythmic. I don’t really like putting labels on a style but if we should center them around a category, the album sounds like Street Punk with influences of Rock’n’roll, but not a common one, instead it is one that makes you jump out of the chair and expose yourself in your best ever seen mosh performance of all times. So turn on your webcam, click play on the first track of the album and let us see how you mosh.
