Review: Latte+ – Next To Ruin

It came out and immediately stuck my ears: I’m talking about “Next To Ruin” the new album of the Tuscan trio LATTE + out from April 23, 2019. Active since 1997, they have conceived a new interesting work that, from the first listening, is a nice mix of musical influences of the one-two-three-four style, which has recently characterized this punk rock band from Florence. In fact, the sound of “Next To Ruin” certainly refers to all those sounds that range between Ramones and The Queers and between Green Day and Screeching Weasel, both for the simplicity of the chords and the structure of the tracks, but also for the quality of the sounds, really well performed.
An excellent album recorded at the Ale Sportelli Recording Studio (Pisa) and distributed in Europe, North America and Japan by Phocomelic Music, a label founded by the same band.
The album runs like a shotgun from the first to the thirteenth track and in about half an hour ranges from moments of pure Ramones-core to West Coast sounds parenthesis: a leap well recognizable, if you listen to “Hey Hey It’s Dee’s Dee’s Birthday Today” and then “Cookie”. In my opinion, the songs “Good Looking Girl” and “Lost In Berlin” are also remarkable.
