Spring Moods – Sad Love Story – Review

Unfortunately I don’t have the CD in my hands, however thanks to Bandcamp I was able to write this review. The album we are talking about is ”Sad Loved Story”, the debut by Forlì based band Spring Moods, which is supported by Flamingo Records, LostDogRecords and Rumagna Sgroza. Recorded at Deposito Zero in Forlì, this album contains 14 short tracks (never more than 2 minutes and a half) but I can assure you that the quality is really good.
The band’s musical proposal consists in a simple and melodic punk rock, in which power chords and catchy guitar riffs match perfectly with the main topic of the songs, that is to say ”love”.
The album opens with the amazing intro taken from a scene of the cult movie ”I Guerrieri della Notte” (The Warriors) and it serves as the introduction of the first song ”I Don’t Wanna Stay”, which is very angry and personally one of my favorites.
More songs which stand out in this solid record are ”Star Wars Love Story”, ”First Class Bitch” and ”Super High”; a video clip was filmed for the first one while the other two close the album and can be defined as catchy and well composed.
An honorable mention to ”Roof”, a great song featuring friends of the band like Canthc and Teenage Bubblegums.
I would like to end this review by giving my congratulations to Spring Moods for this amazing debut; in a period of time in which I don’t listen to melodic punk rock and love songs very much, it was rather pleasant listening to ”Sad Love Story”.
To give a constructive criticism, I think that their English could be improved, even though it is not so bad.
Back to what I wrote at the beginning, I really hope to see them live soon and get the physical copy of the album there. Until next time, over and out!
