Split album “Reconsider Fisto” – The Windowsill/DeeCracks – Review

“Reconsider Fisto” is the new split album featuring The Windowsill, a Dutch band from Rotterdam, and an Austrian act called DeeCracks. It was produced by Shield Recordings and was released on the 16th of March 2015. The album features 4 songs from each band – the unmistakable punk rock / pop punk sound of both of them is violently infected by the music of the ‘80s, particularly The Ramones. To put it shortly, the album is very easily-digestible and… might seem very short, but it’s not. Once you get into the flow, you simply loose the sense of time! Three fast-played chords and beautifully rough vocals is what DeeCracks have to offer. The songs by the Windowsill may have a little bit less momentum, yet the amazing chord progressions and the vocals being a bit cleaner make it sound like typical Dutch Punk Rock (e.g. Apers). This is definitely a very decent split album, no doubt about that. It’s not a masterpiece, but after all, not a lot more can be expected from two bands that don’t sound much innovative and original as they aim to please the listener with their sincere and genuine punk, sometimes interwoven with more melodic sounding. Fans of Ramones should check it out!
